    The truth will be revealed.

It came from nowhere. A bump, loud noise, and BAM! Before we knew it this lottery was here and we couldn’t stop staring at it. We don’t know why it’s there or who else may be a part of it, but we know it’s there for a reason. Can you help Tolero, Fernando and I reveal the truth about the lottery? Once we know the answer, we can move on with our lives.

Reporting posts and you (and me)!

As some of the more rambunctious of you know, part of my job description covers forum moderation. It’s certainly not my favorite aspect of the job (that would be dressing up as Foxboy, for anyone keeping track) but it’s a job that needs doing. And I require help from the community (that’s you!) to do it.

“But Tarrant,” you say, “aren’t you all-knowing and all-seeing? What help could a community member provide someone so great as you?”

Sadly, the above rumor is in fact false. I am neither all-knowing nor all-seeing, and it’s simply impossible to find all of the posts that violate the forum guidelines without a helping hand from you. That helping hand comes via you reporting posts, which can be done by hitting this image reportbutton on any post you feel is inappropriate.  However, I’d like to ask for some help regarding this symbiotic relationship of ours.

The easiest way to get me to emit an exagerated and exasperated sigh is to report a long post (and there are some very long posts) and just say “rude”, “provocative”, “language filter”, etc. I appreciate that you took the time to report the post, but help me help you and include the offending portion of the post.

Thank you, and may reported posts never bring me across your path!

    Build Tarrant a build!

When making characters on DDO, I rely heavily on the path system. I find too much choice to be stressful at times, so I enjoy working with templates which allows me to use my energy to focus on killing things. It’s time for me to create a new character, and I want your help! Build me a build, and earn my eternal gratitude!

Here are some tips to help you help me:

    • I have access to 32 point builds, but no gear.
    • I don’t do well worrying about other people in the group (keeping up buffs, healing).
    • I’m intrigued by a melee/caster combo, but am horrible at managing my spell point pool (also horrible at managing clickies or anything else with limited use).
    • I see myself enjoying a ranged character.
    • I like to be awesome.

Thanks in advance for the help. I spend a lot of time reading the forums and am always amazed by how well you all know this game. It’s time for me to use that expertise on a selfish cause!

    A New Beginning

I may be biased, but I have truly enjoyed the transition to DDO Unlimited and having new and returning players join our community. I’ve loved seeing fresh opinions on old topics, veterans giving advice to new players on the forums and in-game, and simply witnessing the general interaction between all groups of players as we begin to form a new kind of community.

Do you feel the same way? Has the influx of new players or the existence of older ones heightened your enjoyment of DDO?

Veterans: Do you have any stories involving a new player enhancing your gameplay recently? Do their new experiences help you relive your first steps through Stormreach?

New players: Has there been a veteran that went out of their way to help you? Have you found their presence has improved your DDO experience?

Share your stories with me, and with the rest of the community. We’d love to hear them.

    DDO: Rebirth

    Posted On: September 23rd, 2009

As you may have heard, DDO Stormreach has recently relaunched as DDO Unlimited.  The game is drastically different and has vastly improved from the one released three years ago.  This fact has been stated by many of you on the forums and My DDO, and recently by Eurogamer in their Dungeons and Dragons Online Re-review where they’ve awarded the game an 8/10!  Unfortunately, our previous reputation has stuck on some sites such as mmorpg.com where we have a user rating of only 7.3.

If you are a member of mmorpg.com (or want to become one,) why not share your opinion of DDO’s rebirth there?  Do you really think our community’s only a 7.0?  I sure don’t. :P

No, we’re not out to destroy your mouse.

For my first post on My DDO, I’ve decided to give a public service announcement. This message may save you from having to buy a new mouse every week, and from having an index finger that’s three times the size of your other digits. What piece of advice will do all this, you ask?

Did you know you can just hold down the attack mouse button for multiple swings of your weapon? Yes, instead of mashing your mouse each time you want to use that sword, just click and hold your action button and watch the magic happen!

It took me a long time to gleam that bit of knowledge, and I couldn’t be happier to pass it along to all of you. Enjoy the game!
