Moorewr joked on the forums: “The lighthouse STILL is missing its stairway to the top. Come on, Keeper!”

I would SO love to do that.   Every time I work in the Harbor, I toggle over to physics view to take another look.   But the problem remains: the silly lighthouse has some major flaws that prevent me from doing any sort of hackery that would allow players on top of it.  In short, it was built to be seen from far away.  Up close, the top is distinctly lacking in the visual sense.  If artist Jefro saw me trying to let players near its upper reaches, he world. . . how do I say this in PG terms?  “Excrete a cube.”

That, *and* the physics is all wrong.  When you, as a player, bounce off of a wall or a monster, you’re not hitting the visual portion of that wall or monster.  You are hitting the invisible cube or sphere or other simplified shape that occupies the same space.   Actually, you arn’t bouncing off of those invisible physics objects.  Your own soul-like  invisible physics object is doing the bouncing.

Which means I can see your soul.  Now THAT’s trippy.  Wanna know what your soul looks like to me?  It’s rather like a tomato, in fact.

But about the lighthouse.  Yeah, the physics is just a giant box that stops half the weay up.  So, for part of the tower, you would bounce off before you even got to it, and the rest you would pass right through.

There is an issue, too, of the view from the top of the lighthouse.  The landscape wasn’t built to be viewed from that angle, and it would take some serious trickery to work around it, because, physically, one of the other city wards is right there across the water.

Someday we may have a good reason to do an art pass on the lighthouse and surroundings so that players can get on top - but not in the foreseeable future.  Sorry.

Very interesting! You could always take a “marketplace” approach to the tower and have it crumble and rebuilt…

Hmm.. how about letting us climb inside partway (maybe a third of the way up?) with a nice view up into the mechanism for the light above us, and a balcony?

My sould is a tomato o.O Do the silver flame know this? Not sure I like my tomato bouncing off invisible walls…sounds dangerous :D

Wouldn’t it be easier to just install barbwire fencing with a big sign saying “No Entry. Tresspassers will be firewalled anf fed to the dog”?
