In honor of the on-going birthday celebrations we are pleased to present the Featured Player: Special Edition featuring Jaggie! We loved her role-playing interview and are excited to share it with the Community. Without further ado we present Jaggie ~ Cookie Fiend!

JaggieFIRSTLY- ohh… TEST TEST… test… Hello? Hello? There we go. Haywire needs to check the sound amplifier on these speaking stones. Talk about loud. Anyway, hello! My name is Jaggie Jutebox and I’ve been asked to answer some questions for the free agents D.E.V featured ‘player’ article. I’m not really sure what they meant by player but I assure you that I am not that kind of bard. I’m a married ‘forged thank you.

Anyway, on to the questions shall we?

    Where are you from?

Well, I was forged in Flamekeep, Thrane but I never really called that place home. Too stuck up, with everyone asking if you would like to bind to them and their tavern. Gehh. Creepy much? Of course there was that one time in the Inspired Quarter, I think I must have been hit with a mind blast or something. Could have sworn I was from some coastal place called Newfoundland. Seriously, what kind of name is that? New-found-land. Heh. Though I admit. . . I did try looking on a map to see if I could find it.

What do you do for a living?

Well, I work as a guild master mostly. You have no idea how hard it is to keep a bunch of sneaky outlaw-ish rogues and a band of holy pally’s and favored souls from ripping into one another. Like herding cats, I tell ya. Always having to get the mages and the fighters to keep them separated by at least 10 to 20 feet. That one time, when the rogue lied about turning off the trap and our holy crusader ran in… woo… messy.

Of course that’s not all I do. Being ‘forged means I tend to have a lot of free time on my hands while you flesh folk are all sleeping and what not. I took up a little side job at a shop by the local university of the Twelve here. It’s not much; just something to pass the time I suppose. We sell basic study foods to the students and a number of basic spell components and other such supplies. The pay is rubbish but I get to use the time to work on my art of subtle sarcasm against the young arcane minds. Most of them never seem to get it… Though, that one time… He turned me into a newt..

What do you like to do when you are not playing DDO? Any interesting hobbies?

“DDO? I not sure what you mean by this but okay. . . I suppose when I am not playing this DDO that you speak of I do spend a lot of time crafting and making things. I like to draw and paint and make things out of clay. Yeah, I know it is kind of silly for a ‘forged to be all “arts and crafts” but hey, if you really want to laugh at me about it,” the sound of grinding, popping metal knuckles can be heard has she raises a fist, “go right ahead. Heh. Other then that I do a bit of sewing here and there. Made a few costumes for a woman that wanted it for some kind of convention or something.”

What is the last book you read? What is your favorite?

“Well I like to do quite a bit of reading. Different books all at the same time usually. Just last week I finished off a manual of gainful exercise. Pretty good read, I might add. You should definitely try finding a copy. I’ve also taken up a signed book, The Queen of Stone by Keith Baker and several Ian Fleming novels.

Besides all that I also have been reading the books of Dresden, a wizard who lives in a strange realm where the local people don’t believe in magic even with all the bizarre activity going on around them. Vampires, were-wolves, fairies, this guy goes up against the works.”

What was the last movie you saw? What is your favorite?

Movies? You mean like moving illusions and sounds? Or those live plays like the ones Hr. Hardcastle does in the market? I saw one a while back called Sherlock Homes. That was good. I liked the explosions. Hmm.. my favorite though.. . I guess it really depends on the genre. I’m a big fan of those cheesy kung-fu performances. Watching them spin around, making ridiculous fighting noises. Though maybe my favorite movie, or well movies ,would be LadyHawk and another called Batman. You know that one where you just can’t get rid of a bomb. Heh. Yeah. Pure gold I tell ya.

What kind of music do you like to listen to?

Being a bard I get to make my own music, but that’s more for other peoples’ enjoyment and not mine. I’m a fan of Jazz. St. James Infirmary, Moon Dance. Ohh I love those two songs though I admit that I do have a pretty strange random taste in other types of music. I like the sound of steel drums and tribal music. Could listen to a fiddle and bodhrán all day. I like the old fisher folk kind of music. It’s got lots of charm to it. Though I like a lot of the newer heavier styles too. Some bands, I guess that I like, include System of a Down, Staind, Rise Against, Poets of the Fall. Adiemus, Wolfmother…. Yeah.. Kinda random I guess.

Did you ever play the Pen and Paper version of D&D? Which editions?

Pen and Paper what? D&D? Oh wait! I think I know what you are talking about. Last fall we did our usual season event out in the Menechtarun and we played a game using dice and paper. We’d played a number of games where we all pretended to be imaginary characters that where fighting fake monsters. I chopped a dragons’ tail off with a lute string. Heh. It was really fun and the prizes were pretty neat. They let me keep this funny looking 20 sided dice. We tried a few kinds of play formats. Some kind of 3rd edition, a 3.5 and a 4th. I can’t say I much cared for the 4th style but it worked and its kind of been growing on us.

How did you get interested in DDO?

I’m sorry but I don’t understand what you mean by DDO. Is it some kind of game or something? If so perhaps it is like how I get interested in most other games, kicking and screaming and crying out ‘but I don’t wanna be the donkey in pin the tail anymore.’ I’m not a huge fan of most games that involve many players. Generally means someone is gonna pin a tack in my eye… again…. But I guess they can’t all be bad right? Some of them you just have to get dragged into no matter how much you whine and then bam! You realize that hey, this game isn’t so bad. No ones’ tried to stab a tack in my eye. Basics of the game are pretty good: you can choose how many people can play in your group. People you don’t like you can just slip the guard some money and he makes them disappear. Like magic. I like those kind of games. ‘Specially the ones with pretty pictures and dice. Those neat ones where you can make avatars of yourself are really neat too. Got this one game where I actually made a little simulacrum of myself. Gave it a little lute and everything.

    Oh No!

How did you choose your character’s name?

Umm.. Actually it was given to me. When I was forged my plating had this. . . really jagged texture to it. So the Cannith workers, you know, called me Jaggie. I guess it kind of just stuck. My last name though, I got that when I first started working as a bard. Some random traveler called me a Jukebox. When I came here and filled out my registration documents with the Harbor master he mistook the K for a T and so I ended up being called Jaggie Jutebox. Simple mistake. I didn’t bother to correct him. He was having enough troubles with the rest of the line up behind me. I had no idea that Jaggie was such a popular name and could be spelled in so many different ways. . .

    What race/class is your favorite?

You mean as a general or as a whole? I guess I like… you know.. my kind. We ‘forged have to stick together. Since the Last War ended we’ve been treated pretty bad by the other folks of this world. Can’t they see that not all of us are evil? Fighting and killing isn’t the only thing we know. Some of us just want to live peaceful normal lives.

As for class… well.. I guess we all have our skills and weaknesses. Everyone got something they can offer to a party… Not fussy about paladins though. They preach too much. Besides, bards and paladins…we just don’t mix so good. They don’t like my singing.

Rogues don’t seem to like my singing either.. Maybe it has something to do with them trying to be stealthy and me blaring at the top of my lungs… well.. if I had lungs. Let’s just say I’m really loud and they don’t like it.

What server do you play on?

Excuse me? You mean where do I normally hang out? Phoenix tavern is where it’s at. We have weekly parties there. Lots of fun. Mostly just sharing stories and ideas. Great times. Last week I had brought over some Thelanis cakes. Yum.

Are you a member of a guild? Which one?

Hai, that I am. Guild leader for The Fellowship of the Golden Night. We’re a pretty big group. We have several allies too that we also hang out and do many of our missions with. Dawnswords, Umber Hulks, Order of the Sword and Rose, Crimson Nexus, The Church of Tyrilath. Great folk. They put up with my silly antics a lot.

    Do you like to raid?

Only when the mission calls for it. Generally things get pretty chaotic in big groups and it’s hard to keep track of who’s doing what. I’ve lead a few and I’ve been a part of a few. Been the hero of a few thanks to my ability to inspire others with song but normally that puts me directly in harms way. Do you have any idea how hard it is to play a lute while being stared down by a horned devil who’s charging up a fire ball intent on torching you and all your fellow team mates? Pretty hard, let me tell you.

What do you think is the coolest looking place in DDO?

Ok… For the last time: what is this DDO you keep talking about? Is this like. . . secret tongue for Stormreach? Xen’drik? What? Come on tell me, please. If you mean like Xen’drik or all of Eberron for all I care, I’d have to say my favorite place is Cerulean Hills. I have- urrr.. had a place out there. Pleasant view. Could see the great walls surrounding the city from my living room window. I had a rather nice alliance with the local orc tribe too. Don’t really go out there much anymore. I still like to spend my quiet time out in Tangleroot Gorge, staring up into the tree canopies.

Do you quest with people you know, a pick up group, or brave it alone? All of the above?

I generally try to stick with people I know for the most part. I’m a bit shy around strangers some times. My first year or two in Stormreach were not the easiest. People seemed to think lowly of bards and of us ‘forged back then. The mere idea of a ‘forged bard in and of itself I guess is just utter madness. But well, here I am, still kicking. Those that know me and take me into their missions know to expect either two things. One, possible the best healer they could ever expect from someone that isn’t a cleric. Or two, that they are in for a terribly long night of watching me drive the rogues absolutely bonkers as I run backwards into every possible mob of nastiest that I can stumble into.

Do you use any clickie items? What kind are must-haves in your inventory?

Clickies? Umm… I have a wayward scepter. It makes sparkles. Does that count? Umm.. That’s all I really carry that does anything fancy. Other than that I always try to keep plenty of heal scrolls, raise dead . . and a number of cure and repair wands on me. You never know when the next devil assault may happen. I try my best to handle medic duties. What arcane magics I can muster handles the buffs and keeps the people moving.

Do you have a favorite snack to eat when you are playing DDO?

    There’s that word again . . . grr..

I guess I do like a few snack foods. I mean, being ‘forged I don’t really need to eat or anything but I do really enjoy indulging on many treats and other such tasty goods. Cookies are my favorite. Could eat them all day. Hmmm… chocolate chip, shortbread, ranger cookies, sea biscuits, peanut butter, oatmeal.. a good Xoriat jelly cake perhaps…yum. Oh did you want one? I always keep lots of cookies and cakes on me at all times.

    Got Cookies?

What is the funniest thing you have ever heard in general chat?

Hmm.. I’ve heard and said a few pretty strange things in my day. Most I’m not really sure it would be fit to even say. Perhaps that one time, a fellow from one of the elite guilds came by, a big ‘forged folk, was strolling around in the Phoenix when we where having one of our weekly parties. He started rambling on about butterflies. A warforged… rambling about butterflies… weirdest thing. Of course I then mentioned how some butterflies are known for soaking their wings in rust monster venom. To this day I have never heard another ‘forged that could scream so much like a little girl. We could hear from every corner of the Marketplace.

Ever had an embarrassing party wipe?

Ohhhhh… yes! Quite a few actually. We had this one time in the waterworks where half the group got caught up in something about someone’s little pony or something. Next thing you know someone shouts “DEATH PONY” and the ranger freaks out and bolts ahead of us. Alerted every single one of the kobolds in the area. Next thing you know we were all face down in the Wayward Lobster staring at Brother Tanglewood’s shoes.

Then there was that other time… we weren’t even doing a mission. Just standing around outside and waiting for our last party member to show up. Yeah…. Tanglewood wont even look at me anymore, after explaining that one.

If you could hang out in real-life with any of the NPC’s from the game who would you choose? Why?

NPC’s? Game? You really say a lot of strange words. If I’m going to hang around with anyone I suppose it’ll be Cog, in the Phoenix tavern. He puts up with a lot of our crap, day in and day out. People always starting a ruckus and beating things up in his tavern. People continuously spilling ale on his precious counter.

I’m sure I could learn quite a bit from him. Maybe have him share a few stories with me. Bartenders always hear the strangest things. See the strangest people.

What’s your favorite Adventure Pack or quest chain?

Hmm… I’d done nearly every mission and quest that this town has thought to throw at me. Of all of them, I’m almost ashamed to say that I liked breaking into the Gamblers’ Den the most. Shocking isn’t it? I don’t even like working for the Silver Flame and yet I loved that mission. Running in, knocking out the guards. Breaking everything.

I was surprised at how easy it was. How chaotic I could be. Just simple, pure destruction. No one really got hurt. I didn’t have any problems with the dogs. Just threw them a biscuit and they left me alone. Unlocked the security rune for the back room, took the sucker’s stash and skipped out of the place.

Following that, well… That one place out in the old harbor, the Inspired Quarter now I guess you’d call it. Had a fellow take me out to an island where I was sent alone to gather parts needed for an ancient artifact. And I had to go down this old mine shaft to get it. I’ve never been all that good at going alone on missions, ’specially any place that involved lots of deadly traps and careful rock climbing skills. But I did it. Kicked the pants off some animated armour. Kicked some stoned monster in places that would be rude to mention and happily left with a pocket full of money. Nothing says success like a job well done, and well paid, eh?

Jaggie, thank you so much for taking a break from your adventuring for our interview. See you around!
